Metro West Community Development Organization Announces Leadership Transition; Appoints Nick De Leon as Interim Executive Director
The Board of Directors of Metro West Community Development Organization (MWCDO) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nick De Leon as Interim Executive Director, effective July 10, 2026. De Leon will provide executive leadership while the Board conducts a comprehensive search for the organization's next permanent Executive Director.
Since joining MWCDO in 2021, De Leon has served in several leadership positions, including Economic Development Director, Interim Executive Director, Associate Director, and Chief Neighborhood Transformation Officer. His experience and deep commitment to the organization position him to lead MWCDO through this transition.
"The Board has complete confidence in Nick as he steps into this leadership role," said Board President Nicholas S. Mays, Ph.D. "We are confident that, under his leadership and with the continued support of our staff, Board of Directors, and community partners, MWCDO will continue moving forward with stability and purpose during this interim period."
The Board has developed a comprehensive transition plan to ensure uninterrupted operations while conducting a thoughtful and thorough search for the organization's next Executive Director.
The Board also extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Emily Lee for her four years of dedicated leadership and service to MWCDO. Dr. Lee has accepted the position of Executive Director of Central American Medical Outreach (CAMO), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing life-saving medical services and sustainable development initiatives in underserved communities in Honduras.
"On behalf of the Board, I want to express our deepest appreciation to Dr. Emily Lee for her leadership, service, and unwavering commitment to Metro West Community Development Organization and the neighborhoods we proudly serve," said Dr. Mays.
MWCDO remains committed to its mission of revitalizing neighborhoods and strengthening communities by investing in housing, economic opportunity, resident leadership, and neighborhood partnerships throughout Clark-Fulton, Stockyards, and Brooklyn Centre.
