Community Impact and Achievement Award

Each year, Metro West Community Development Organization (MWCDO) honors individuals, projects, and partners who have made significant contributions to the vitality, growth, and well-being of our neighborhoods through the Annual Community Impact and Achievement Awards. These awards recognize outstanding efforts that align with MWCDO’s mission to improve the quality of life for residents and foster a stronger, more connected community. Recipients are chosen by MWCDO staff, who carefully consider the impact and positive influence these individuals, projects, and partners have had on our community.

This award celebrates the outstanding contributions of an individual, project & partner that has significantly enhanced the vitality and improvement of the MWCDO community, Clark-Fulton, Stockyard, and Brooklyn Centre neighborhoods. Through this award, MWCDO aims to uplift, support, and highlight the efforts of those who advance our mission, to revitalize our neighborhoods, celebrate our history, and strengthen collaboration, diversity and redevelopment.

2026 Project Award Winner

Trent Park

Trent Park, located at 3850 Newark Avenue, features a playground and swings, making it a valued asset in the community. The hub plays a central role in uniting local residents by providing a safe space where the next generation can build confidence, form lasting relationships, and experience the joy of the game. The renovation of the Trent Park community courts is designed to further strengthen the neighborhood by creating a positive impact both on and off the court. The dual court refurbishment commemorates the Cavaliers’ 18th and 19th recreation court revitalization in Cleveland and largest court investment yet, highlighting a commitment to youth wellness, recreation and community investment in Northeast Ohio. “The revival of Trent Park in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood says clearly, we see you, we value you, and we are here to stay. The future of Cleveland is here, and we’re committed to investing in those who matter most, our youth and families," said Councilwoman Jasmin Santana. With the help of local community groups, including Esperanza, Future Ink Graphics, and Julia De Burgos led by Eleva, to help design and paint the courts. These courts were inspired by the surrounding community displaying the saying “Somos Arte”, We are Art. Standing as symbols of hope and opportunity, these courts will continue to provide vibrant spaces that bring people together and foster a sense of unity.

Ward 14 Councilwoman Jasmin Santana made history as the first Latina ever elected to Cleveland City Council. She represents the Clark-Fulton, Brooklyn Centre and Stockyards neighborhoods, along with a portion of Tremont.

All five local parks in Ward 14 will have experienced significant improvements over the past eight years—and more work is ahead. As a community centered around families, Councilwoman Santana remains committed to expanding parks and green spaces, while also prioritizing infrastructure improvements along Storer Avenue. She is also proud to co-sponsor legislation limiting the number of smoke shops in local neighborhoods. While she strongly supports small businesses, she believes communities thrive when they attract establishments that uplift and strengthen the area. This legislation helps maintain safe, family-friendly neighborhoods.

Kevin Clayton is the Executive Vice President, Chief Impact and Equity Officer for Rock Entertainment Group, where he leads community impact and diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts across the Cleveland Cavaliers and affiliated properties. Since joining the Cavaliers in 2019, Clayton has spearheaded groundbreaking efforts that have positioned the organization as a trailblazer in the sports industry. These groundbreaking strategies have earned the Cavs the honor of being recognized as the NBA’s Inclusion Leader of the Year for 2025/26.
A Cleveland native and long-time diversity, equity and inclusion leader in sports and corporate settings, he has held senior roles at major organizations, sits on several community boards, and considers his greatest achievement being a father of four daughters and grandfather of three.
